Social inequality, I believe, is caused by personal bias or prejudice. When we see someone working a minimum wage job, we immediately assume they have no work-ethic. In reality, they may be a high school student looking for extra money, working the job for a short time between other jobs, or they have no choice because they have no access to higher education. The social inequality starts by judging people on things that they often can’t control. Sometimes, people have limited opportunities and have no choice to make do with the resources they come in contact with.
Since I believe individuals influence society, I think the people of the world are more responsible for inequality. We bring in prejudice against people who don’t look, sound, or think like us as being wrong. Therefore, we push them down in society and don’t give them a chance to rise above their station.
The primary influencers in my ideology would be my parents. I have lived with them my who life and they have shown me what they believe is right and wrong. When I see their ideals, I base my thoughts on what experiences and ideas they have. They have shown me that every job in society has a purpose and education is an important way to rise in society and make the world a better place.
